Baden Powell Scouts Malta full Member of World Federation Of Independent Scouts
Baden Powell Scouts Malta, (BPSM) is the only traditional Scouting Scout Federation on the Maltese Islands and was voted a full member of the World Federation of Independent Scouts (WFIS) , after obtaining full majority votes during the Annual General Assembly held in Palermo on the 25th January, 2014.
Baden Powell Scouts Malta was founded in July 2011 by setting up Mtarfa Baden Powell Scouts and in October of the same year sought membership with the World Federation for Independent Scouts. Today both Baden Powell Scouts Malta and the World Federation of Independent Scouts are experiencing membership growth. There are now Groups in Bahrija, Luqa, Mgarr, Mtarfa, Qormi, St Paul’s Bay and Zebbug.
Traditional Scouting is loyal to the original instruction manuals designed by the Founder Robert Baden Powell. Baden Powell Scouts Malta is a registered non-profit, non-governmental organisation, an approved provider of non-formal learning, in the service of young people, youth and adults, and accepts in its ranks persons of good will who wish to be part of the journey in the Scouting Tradition. BPSM is guided supports gender equality, does not discriminate on the basis of belief and is a friend to all and to any other scout and Girl Guide.
The fast growing World Federation for Independent Scouts today has representations on nearly all the continents. The World Federation of Independent Scouts is open to any Scouting association or Scout Group that is not affiliated with another international organization. WFIS requires that member associations “follow, and use, Baden-Powell’s original program, traditions, uniforms, morals, ethics, and structure as laid out in Baden-Powell’s Scouting for Boys,” amended only for “health, environmental, first-aid, and safety reasons.” Steering Committee members in all regions are purely voluntary and are not paid.
